Moving Timeline

There are so many packing tips & checklists out there.

Let’s face it, packing efficiently and effectively can make all the difference in helping to alleviate stress and setting you up for success with your upcoming Toronto or GTA Move.

Here are some of our favorite tried and tested packing tips.

Start 6-8 Weeks Before

Yep you read that right 6-8 WEEKS BEFORE

Preparing early for your move in the GTA will help ensure an organized and stress free process.

Start by purging items you no longer have use for, haven’t used in a long time or don’t have space for in your new home. We recommend checking out our packing & organizing partners listed in the resource guide on our website. They definitely help make this part a breeze - www.parkersmoving.ca

Also, create a moving folder or book to keep important documents and information along with a to do list (change of address for internet, hydro ect)

Book Your Moving Team & Purchase Packing Supplies

Give us, Parkers Moving- Your Toronto Moving Company a call 5-6 weeks before your move date to set up a virtual walk through. This gives us the opportunity to see what needs to be done and provide any additional tips to help you along the way.

We are also happy to provide you with information regarding where to purchase packing materials. (Or you can book us to do your packing for you and forget about the rest of this post 😉 )

Start Packing-4 Weeks Before

You’ve purged, donated, and got all your supplies for packing, and now it’s time to get to work and start packing your non-essentials.

Think about how you will unpack in your new home. Ensure that boxes are designated for one room, as opposed to having pieces from different rooms in the same box. This will ensure that your unpacking experience is a seamless one.

When a box is fully packed, position it towards the front of the room to save time (and money) when move day arrives.

**Helpful Tip

Use towels to wrap delicate items & help eliminate some of the packing waste*

Packing Continued

With 2 weeks to go until move day, it’s time to kick the packing into high gear.

Be sure to label boxes to reflect what room they will be going in at your new house.

** Helpful Tip

Label boxes on the side. Once boxes are stacked it can be difficult to see what is in them, and labelling on the side will help avoid opening them all to find needed items**

Begin putting together your “first night” bag/box

Pack things like paper towel, toilet paper, cleaning spray, coffee & coffee machine, cutlery, scissors, clothes for the next morning, anything that you will need to survive night 1 in your new home. Keep this box in your vehicle during the move so it is easy to find
